| Ho ho ho! It's that time of year again. Recently I have been rediscovering the joy of Christmas. Over the past several years I had become increasingly cynical of Christmas, with all of the commercialism and such. While my extended family are believers, it seems that Christmas had become just another time to see family. At some point Chirstmas ceased to be a big deal. While it is a good time to spend with family, it is more than that....
Now that I'm married, I have begun to re-discover some of the joy of Christmas. There should be a natural wonderment and awe surrounding Christmas. It should be a big deal. It's not every day that the Creator, the one and only true God comes to Earth as a human to save his lost love. If a real lover went to these lengths for you in real life it would be a BIG DEAL to you, right? Well, guess what... it's real. Very real. And it is a big deal.
As Sarah and I were decorating our house for Christmas, we put up a nativity set we received as a wedding gift. It's my favorite decoration we own. Oh to be a fly on the wall of this scene when it happened... how utterly amazing.

| Dear Carla, I have to be honest. This has occupied my thoughts for too long now and I cannot deny myself any further. I have to be true to my desires. We had some good times and at first it was great. But over time, I've grown tired of the same old-same old. We've grown apart and I have changed, and there is a new woman in my life who understands what I need. Now that I'm with her I look in the mirror and like who I see. She brings out a different person in me that you just weren't able to. That's right, Im leaving you to go to an actual salon. I will always remember the good times we had when you were cutting my hair at the barber shop, but its time to move on. I hope you can understand, -Paul So I'm gonna try out a new hair place. I'm trying to find a more 'professional' haircut (whatever that is) and I just dont know what to do with my hair. Time to bring in the professionals. | | |
| I am definitely in a musical rut. My music collection has been stale for quite some time. I actually forgot how much I enjoy just listening to music. In college (before I started having to pay for it) I got addicted to high end audio/home theater. If given the opportunity and the means, I would probably spend a lot more than your average Joe for home audio equipment. I mean, if people will spend all of this money on a big TV, then why not a stereo ? To me, listening to music is so much more involving than TV is. It's more than just listening, it engages your mind and your thoughts. When you're actively listening to a song, you paint a picture with your mind and much like art, it can be interpereted differently be each individual. TV (most of the time) gives you everything up front and it tells you what to think. I think I love music for a lot of the same reasons I love Flickr. It's engaging, inspiring, and creative. And I love creating in general. While I am secretly proud of the breadth of my music appreciation (not necessarily knowledge but breadth) I do tend to lean towards music that is more acoustical/folky/ambience in nature. My most recent discoveries that I'm currently enjoying are Something Corporate, Cartel, and The Album Leaf. I love this kind of music (currelty listening to The Album Leaf) in the background while I am working on the computer. It's relaxing yet motivating while not demanding to be at the center of attention like the screaming brat that so much of pop music is. Anyhoo, just thought I'd give my Xanga some luvin. Peace out. | | |
